Getting your hopes up! This is a big problem that I've experienced, and so have my friends using online dating services. A person can look just PERFECT for you online, and you end up projecting onto that person a lot of what you think that person is like. When you meet them, finally, it rarely lives up to your expectations. Plus, it doesn't help that many, many people online misrepresent themselves!

I totally agree! I've found that it's best not to get your hopes up. In fact, the first time I was to meet my now-husband in person, we both kept in mind that our friendship was first, even if there was no chemistry between us. Thankfully we weren't disappointed, because the chemistry was there!

I think safety first. The greatest pitfall in the online dating arena especially free dating sites is that they are free for all. Anyone and his dog can sign up pretending to be whoever. You just have to be really careful on the scene these days. Read Online Dating Tips and Pitfalls for more info.
