Online Dating StoriesThis is a featured page

Been online looking for love? Even if you haven't found it (yet!), you've probably come away with at least one story: funny, scary, bizarre, creepy, juicy or just plain amazing. For all the others who are online right now, they could use a laugh--or inspiration.

Julia's story:
When I was in college my best friend and I decided to sign up for some dating services just for fun. I ended up meeting this one guy through some dating site; we fit each other best according to the site's surveys. Well, we lived far apart, and weren't interested in a long-distance relationship, but we had a fun friendship. Sometimes we would change the answers on our questionnaires, just to see how much higher our "things in common" ranking could get!

After a while I decided that online dating services weren't for me. I was spending a lot of time at a particular IRC chatroom, though, and was making some great friends. Who would have thought that I would have met my now-husband there? Yes, I met my love online, and I wasn't even intentionally looking for him!

Megan's story: It all began on April 9, 2003. I was on a Yahoo! Chatroom just looking for someone to talk to because I was bored. I clicked on a name and just started chatting. We began writing emails back and forth and I really didn't expect things to take off quickly because I was living in North Carolina at the time and he was living in Maryland, but within a month we were talking everyday online and on the phone 2 times per day. After that month, he came on a bus to my state and to meet me. The moment we hugged and had our first kiss I felt this warmth and this feeling that I was going to marry this man. Little did I know, my feelings were right. 1 year developed into 2 years, and 2 years developed into 3 years. We recently got married January 13, 2007. I still cannot believe that I met my now-husband that way! :o)

Matt's story
: I met this one girl from FaceBook about a year ago. She had actually found and pursued me online, which was a bit out of the ordinary for me. We had a few chats over the FaceBook messaging system and she seemed like a great girl, real attractive too. So, we finally decide to meet up at a local coffee shop and right out of the gate she started giving me the 20 questions routine. To be honest it felt more like a one way interview than a nice two way conversation, to say the least it was pretty painful. And when I finally did get a chance to try to talk to her she wouldn't make eye contact, her eyes would just dart all over the place!! As you might guess, there wasn't a second date, the first one was too odd for me, but I suppose the only way to find out your compatibility with someone is to actually meet them in real life.

Now, if you thought my dating story was weird, you should check out some of these crazy online dating stories I found all across the Internet. They range from hilarious, bizarre, sad and out-right scary.

Your stories about online dating are very encouraging but I must warn that you need to keep in mind your safety when you use these online agencies. Like Verna I have heard a lot of horror stoies as well. I generally point people who are into online dating to safe online dating

I know you hear a lot of horror stories about on line dating. But you you have to decide for yourself; because i tried it several months ago and i met my perfect mate. At first i was scared because you really never know who or what you're talking to, however i chatted with Gary for two months then we decided to meet, he flew me to New York and we had dinner and drinks in a very public place, he was the perfect gentleman. He escorted me to my hotel and we said our good nights. The next morning at breakfast he gave me a beautiful ring and asked me to marry him. We are still dating and are making plans to be married in the spring of 2010. So you see you can't base your opinion of on line dating from all the negative and bad stories that you hear because there are some really nice people on the internet looking for their mates
